Named for the traditional lands where the Blackfoot Nation performed Buffalo Rounds. It is known that bison would migrate up to 300 kilometres north of the North Saskatchewan River to the safety of artesian wells to gather for the winter.
Land Acknowledgement
This campaign acknowledges that we conduct our business on Treaty 6 territory and the Métis Homeland, the ancestral lands of the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway, Saulteaux. Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others. These lands, known as ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ/amiskwaciwâskahikan, have been a center of trade and innovation for Indigenous peoples since time immemorial.
